is competing at the Olympics in Beijing this summer??? He is! As a
heavyweight on Australia's Boxing Team.
--No, it's not THE Brad Pitt. This 25-year-old Aussie has been
training for ten years to get to the Olympics and he has the same
name as our Brad. Brad the boxer says, quote, "Mate, I've been
living with that other bloke's name for years, it doesn't worry
me at all."
(--And yes, whenever he's interviewed, Brad Pitt the boxer CAN
recite the rules of "Fight Club".)

E-Juror www.ejury.com
The virtual jury is one of the newer tools used in pre-trial research
aimed at helping lawyers develop their courtroom presentations,
select the best jurors for their cases and reach negotiated settlements.
With E-jurors, virtual jurors sign up to participate in a decision-making
process aimed at helping lawyers determine what their cases are
worth, find facts to emphasize and learn public attitudes. Jurors
get paid $5 to $10 per verdict depending on the complexity of the
case
so, dont expect to get rich as an e-juror, but
it can be a good way to make a few extra bucks while learning about
the legal process.
Virtual Assistant www.jobs.aol.com,
www.careerbuilder.com, www.virtualassistantjobs.com
Virtual assistants are gaining popularity, particularly among small-business

or have limited or no office space. Virtual assistants work as an
administrative assistant or virtual offices manager from home. Depending
on the needs of your client, you may work "on call" or
set your own schedule, but in all cases, you're virtual, working
from your home for clients who may be based in your community or
on another continent, communicating via e-mail, Instant Messaging,
phone and fax.
Responsibilities may include scheduling meetings, handling travel
arrangements, billing, bookkeeping, Website updates ... but one
thing's for sure, you won't have to make the coffee;)
Virtual assistants typically earn between $20 and $45 per hour.
Virtual assistant training is available online at
www.assistu.com. And the International Virtual Assistants
Association (IVAA) www.ivaa.org,
offers a certification program.

a request to rent monkeys for a birthday party, and help writing
a speech for a best man?
Many of VIPdesk's clients are executives and employees of some of
the top companies in the world, all of whom are willing to pay for
such services of convenience.
VIPdesk hires home-based agents who are highly resourceful and have
prior experience in high-end customer service, travel and/or hospitality.
Pay starts at $14.00 per hour. You can apply online at vipdesk.com.
Paid Blogger www.payperpost.com
PayPerPost connects advertisers with bloggers who are willing,
for a fee, to develop and distribute content throughout the blogosphere,
helping to generate positive buzz for particular products, services,
websites, etc. Advertisers can sign on for as little as $10 per
blog post and begin working directly with bloggers. By paying bloggers
to blog for them, companies are finding they can boost their search
engine ranking, while also gaining valuable feedback from blog readers.
Mobile Search Guide www.chacha.com
ChaCha is a FREE cell phone search engine, where users call, text
or e-mail a real, live human being with a question and he or she
quickly researches it for you, delivering a snippet of personalized
advice along with the single best Web site link to your mobile phone
(usually, in about 5 to 10 minutes time). ChaChas live guides
are sitting at home or in a dorm room making money assisting you
in your search. They answer questions on just about any topic imaginable
Whats the weather in X area going to be?; Where can
I find the cheapest gas?; Who won the game last night?, etc.
ChaCha.com pays "guides" up to $10 per hour spent searching
for answers. The more efficient you are, the more you make. The
service currently has about 8,000 freelance "guides" across
the country and says that about 10 percent are logged on at any
given time. The guides can sign in whenever they want, but the company
says it works out that at least 500 are always online. Most of the
guides are college students, stay-at-home parents or retired.

YOU CAN BUY A FRUIT THAT MAKES VEGETABLES TASTE LIKE CANDY:
The worst part about eating vegetables is that they taste like
vegetables. But would you eat your veggies if they tasted like .
. . candy?
--Good news for you . . . there's a berry that actually makes vegetables
taste sweet. People call it the miracle fruit . . . but that's because
most people don't know how to pronounce its real name (--Synsepalum
dulcificum).
--The berry contains a protein that literally fools your taste
buds into thinking acidic foods are sweet. It's kind of like drugs
for your mouth, except there are no harmful side effects.
--The berry is pretty expensive at about $2 a pop . . . but some
people are paying up to $15 to try it at so-called "flavor
tripping parties."
--For about an hour, vegetables will taste like candy, goat cheese
will taste like cheesecake, beer will taste like chocolate, cheap
tequila will taste like Patron . . . and hot sauce will taste like
a glazed doughnut.
(--You can buy the berry and find out more about flavor tripping
parties here . . .)

NOW
YOU CAN OWN A GHOST IN A BOTTLE:
Have you ever thought to yourself, "Gee, I'd sure like
to own a GHOST . . . but I don't know where to buy one"? If
so, you're in luck.
--That's because there's a guy in St. Augustine, Florida (--on
the eastern coast, southeast of Jacksonville), named John Deese
who's mastered the art of ghost trapping . . . and he's selling
a fantastic new product called A Ghost in a Bottle.
--It sounds too good to be true, right. (???) But according to
John . . . A Ghost in a Bottle is 100% real. (--And if John says
it's real, it MUST be true!)
--So how is John able to trap all those ghosts in a bottle? Well,
John says he contracts with professional ghost hunters who catch
the spirits from houses, cars and even graveyards.
--But when it comes to HOW John gets the ghosts into a bottle,
well, he's not giving away his secret. John says, quote, "If
you went into KFC, you wouldn't ask for the Colonel's secret recipe,
would you?" (--Ah, touché, John. Touché.)

YOU CAN TAKE THE PRESIDENTIAL FITNESS TEST AS AN ADULT:
Remember those Presidential Fitness tests you took in school?
--Yesterday, the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports
introduced a fitness test for adults. It's basically the same test
you took in school (--only this time, it's not mandatory).
--The aerobic part of the test involves a one-mile walk or 1.5-mile
run . . . The muscular strength part of the test is push-ups and
crunches . . . and the flexibility test is a sit-and-reach exercise.
--When you took the Presidential Fitness test in school, the kids
who scored in the top 15% of the country made the rest of us look
bad and got a sweet certificate signed by the president.
--But you don't get that validation with this test. Instead, you
can go online and compare your results to the rest of the nation,
and see where you rank in your age group.
(--You can sign up for the test here . . .)

In 2007, the ASPCA's Animal Poison Control Center received more than
130,000 calls. Most cases of animal poisoning were caused by common
human foods and household items.
Many foods we enjoy can be dangerous to animals. It's best to stick
to pet food and a diet recommended by your vet. Here are a few of
the most toxic foods that can harm your pet:
Bad news foods
Avocados
They contain a toxic component called persin, which can damage heart,
lung and other tissue in many animals. This fruit is very toxic
to dogs, cats and most animals.
Beer
Alcoholic beverages can cause the same damage to an animal's liver
and brain as they cause in humans. But the effects can be deadly
on animals since they are much smaller than us. The smaller the
animal, the more deadly the effects can be. Even a small amount
of alcohol may cause vomiting and damage the liver and brain.
Nuts
Walnuts and macadamia nuts are especially toxic. Effects can be
anything from vomiting to paralysis to death. Within 12 hours of
eating the nuts, pets start to develop symptoms such as an inability
to stand or walk, vomiting, hyperthermia (elevated body temperature),
weakness, and an elevated heart rate. These symptoms can be even
worse if your dog eats some chocolate with the nuts. The effect
can cause kidney failure, often leading to death.
Chocolate
Chocolate contains theobromine, which can kill your pet if eaten
in large quantities. Dark and unsweetened baking chocolates are
especially dangerous. Giving your pup a piece of chocolate cake
or even letting him lick the chocolate icing on the cake could cause
him to become ill. Theobromine can also cause a dog or cat's heart
to beat very rapidly or irregularly, which could result in death
if the pet is exercising or overly active.
Candy
Candy or anything containing Xylitol (a common sweetener found in
some diet products) can cause a sudden drop in an animal's blood
sugar, loss of coordination and seizures. If left untreated, the
animal could die.
Caffeine
Coffee, tea or any product that contains caffeine stimulates an
animal's central nervous and cardiac systems. This can lead to restlessness,
heart palpitations and death, depending on how much the animal consumes.
Grapes and raisins
Grapes and raisins can lead to kidney failure in dogs. As little
as a single serving of raisins can kill them. And the effects are
cumulative, which means that even if a dog eats just one or two
grapes or raisins regularly, the toxin that builds in his system
will eventually kill him.
Onions
Onions are another common food that can be highly toxic to pets.
They can destroy an animal's red blood cells and lead to anemia,
weakness and breathing difficulties. Their effects are also cumulative
over time.
Medicine
Hide medicine from your pets just like you would from your children.
The most common cause of pet poisoning is from animals ingesting
a medicine or drug normally prescribed for humans.
And this is not just because furry pals are getting into their
pet parent's medicine cabinets. In many cases, pet owners give their
feline and canine friends an over-the-counter medication to ease
an animal's pain. But acetaminophen and ibuprofen, the active ingredients
in many common pain relievers, are extremely toxic to dogs and cats.
They can cause gastric ulcers, liver damage, kidney failure and
sometimes death.
Good news foods
There are a few things that you CAN give to your furry pal. However,
you should always consult a veterinarian before introducing a new
food item to your pet.
Although these foods are normally harmless, some animals have sensitive
gastrointestinal tracts. So even these healthy treats should be
avoided if they cause gastrointestinal upset for your pet. Keep
in mind that these and other "extras" should not make
up more than 5 to 10 percent of the pet's daily caloric intake.
Lean meats
Any cooked lean meat should be fine for most dogs. High fat meats,
chicken skin and fat from steaks or roasts are not recommended.
Ingestion may lead to gastrointestinal upset or even pancreatitis.
This can be a very painful condition for dogs. In addition, most
companion animals do not need extra fat in their diets. Never give
your pet meat with the bone in it. Animals can choke on the bones,
and they can splinter as well.
Vegetables
Carrot sticks, green beans, cucumber slices and zucchini slices
are all OK.
Fruit
Apple slices, orange slices, bananas, watermelon are all OK. Make
sure the seeds have been taken out; seeds are not good for your
pet!
Baked potatoes
Plain baked potatoes is fine, but make sure they are cooked
no unripe potatoes or potato plants.
Bread
Plain cooked bread is fine, just make sure there are no nuts or
raisins added.
Rice and pasta
Plain, cooked pasta or white rice are OK. Often veterinarians recommend
plain rice and with some boiled chicken when gastrointestinal upset
is present.
In case of emergency
Despite all the precautions you take to keep your pet pals safe,
accidents do happen. That's why the ASPCA, Humane Society and animal
advocates advise pet owners to keep the telephone number of their
local veterinarian and the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center
(888) 426-4435 in a prominent location.
Common signs of poisoning include muscle tremors or seizures; vomiting
and diarrhea; drooling; redness of skin, ears and eyes; and swelling
and bleeding.
If you suspect your pet has consumed, inhaled or come in contact
with a toxic substance, stay calm and call for help immediately.
If you see your pet consuming anything you think might be toxic,
seek emergency help immediately even if she or he is not exhibiting
any symptoms.

| EARTH DAY AND YOUR OLD CELL PHONE -- SOMETHING YOU CAN
DO |
You probably use a cell phone, and statistics show you also have about
3.5 "retired" cell phones sitting around in a drawer at
home, or at your office. The cell phone has become the most widespread
consumer electronics device ever produced, and the mountain of old
cell phones, which contain a variety of toxic heavy metals, is growing
at a rate that is staggering. Here it is by the numbers:
The U.S. has more than 257 million cell phone users.
That is approximately 83% of the total population.
Each cell phone user replaces his cell phone approximately every
18 months.
That adds another 155+ million cell phone devices per year.
And all of this creates a backlog of cell phones poised to enter
landfills that's about 1 billion strong.
That's enough cell phones to circle the earth more than 2.5 times.
It's also more than enough toxic material to poison our air, water
and landfills for centuries. But there is a way to prevent this
through organizations like CollectiveGood which is the nation's
premier cell phone recycler, developing programs in partnership
with charities, companies, government, schools, individuals, manufacturers
and carriers.
With every cell phone recycled, 17 metals are reclaimed and refined
to 99.99% pure, including:
Gold
Silver
Platinum
Lead
Cadmium
Mercury
Copper
When these metals are reused, it prevents the creation of an
additional 6,545 pounds of toxic mining waste per phone recycled.
Put another way, the mining for the metals for that phone in your
back pocket created a pile of toxic mining waste larger than a minivan!
Recycling your phone prevents that waste.
There is also a program called GreenPhone which pays consumers to
recycle their old cell phones and plants a tree for every mobile
phone purchased. GreenPhone pays consumers between $5 and $75 for
every cell phone purchased, and will recycle any and all cell phones
and their related accessories.

CHECKS FROM UNCLE SAM
You know you'll be getting a check from Uncle Sam as part of the economic
stimulus package. But when will you get your money? It all depends
on the last two digits in your Social Security number.
If you choose direct deposit, here's when you'll see the money
by, according to the Internal Revenue Service:
The last two digits are between 00-20: May 2
21-75: May 9
76-99: May 16
If you opt for a paper check, it should be in the mail by these
dates:
The last two digits are between 00-09: May 16
10-18: May 23
19-25: May 30
26-38: June 6
39-51: June 13
52-63: June 20
64-75: June 27
76-87: July 4
88-99: July 11
To figure out how much you'll get from the economic stimulus plan,
visit www.irs.gov/app/espc. The one-time payment is up to $600 per
person and has a $300 per child payment.
Please note that there may be other factors affecting when you
get your money. No money will be distributed until and unless a
person has filed tax forms for 2007 with the IRS.

CREATIVE WAYS TO RE-USE & RECYCLE HOUSEHOLD STUFF
"At the end of the week, I make 'refrigerator' soup with
anything leftover or veggies that are not so fresh. I have had some
good combos, too!"
"My kids drink milk in sippy cups. Instead of throwing any
of it down the drain, I use the rest in my coffee or tea. (My husband
thinks this is gross, but it doesn't bother me.)"
"I had an avocado that was overripe-instead of throwing it
out, I ate the best part and made a facial mask with the rest. I
mixed in a little honey to help with blackheads."
"Here in the South we reuse a lot of things, especially for
gardening and composting. Did you know you can take a banana peel,
chop it up, dig a hole around your rose bushes (cover it back up
well), and it
fertilizes the bush? Eggshells, too. I even save eggshells and clean
them out, bake them in the oven for 15 minutes at 350, and feed
this crushed back to birds and chickens. It's a great source of
calcium for them."
"I hardly get plastic bags anymore. We used to use them to
dispose of dirty diapers, but one day my husband said, 'We can't
do this anymore. Not only are we sending diapers to the landfill,
but look at all
the bags we're sending.' If we do get plastic bags, we take them
to our local grocery store to recycle. I do keep a few on hand ...
if I need to return something borrowed or send something to Goodwill."
"Nearly dried-out markers can be dipped in cool water and used
like paint brushes for fun kid craft projects. Egg cartons also
make fun kid toys and craft projects. They also go back to my friend,
who
provides us with free-range eggs."
"Veggie scraps get turned into broth before composting. I wash
and reuse plastic silverware and plates, cups and baggies; compost
dryer lint; use the plastic inside cereal boxes to roll out cookies,
etc.; reuse bread bags as food storage bags; pack lunches for the
kids in reusable containers (e.g. yogurt)... [We also] Freecycle
all sorts of things -- it's AMAZING what folks want!"
"Rather than throw away plastic bread bags or other thin bags
from food, I try to get another use out of them before disposing
of them. I use them for a green beauty treatment. I rub olive oil
on my feet, put a clean plastic bread bag on each, and then [put
on] socks. I leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes and have softer, moisturized
skin."

A POPULAR GIFT FOR DOGS IN NEW ZEALAND IS A CD ONLY DOGS CAN HEAR:
The number one song in New Zealand last Christmas was a song called
"A Very Silent Night". It was #1 despite the fact that
humans can't actually hear it . . . it can only be heard by dogs.
--The song was recorded at a frequency that's too high for humans
to hear. To us, it sounds like nothing. But dogs can easily hear
it.
--Most dogs seem to like the sound . . . but there was one report
of a dog that go so worked up when it heard the CD, it attacked
the CD player.
--Dog owners in New Zealand bought 4,400 copies of "A Very
Silent Night" for their dogs for Christmas. The CD has made
$17,300 . . . and all the proceeds go to a charity set up by the
Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
--Now that charity wants to market the song worldwide to raise
more money for abused animals. If you want to buy your dog a copy,
go here: http://www.spca.org.nz/silent.htm

WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS..........
A MOM INVENTS A TOY RENTAL SERVICE . . . SORT OF LIKE THE NETFLIX
FOR TOYS:
Kids pretty much have the attention span of a goldfish, which is
very frustrating to parents who shell out a ton of money on toys
. . . only to have their kid lose interest in them the next day.
--That's why Lori Pope of Houston, Texas, invented a toy rental
service. The company is called Baby Plays and it's basically like
Netflix . . . but instead of renting videos, you rent toys.
--Here's how it works: For around thirty bucks a month, you choose
six toys to be mailed to you, out of a selection of around 200 toys.
--When your kid loses interest in them (--like five minutes later),
you just send the toys back and get new ones in the mail.
--Lori says she cleans and sanitizes the toys when they return.
(--You may think the idea of your kid sharing toys with other random,
germy babies is gross, but what do you think happens when you drop
them off at pre-school or daycare? Same deal, isn't it?)
(--Here's the site if you want to check it out . . .)

It's called the WINE RACK . . . and it's basically a bra that you
can fill up with wine . . . for those occasions when it just isn't
cool to be getting drunk.
--The bra is made of polyurethane . . . and it has a bladder which
is able to hold an entire bottle of wine. It also has a hose and nozzle
which ladies can discreetly sip from when no one is looking.
--And to make a good thing even better, the wine rack serves the double
purpose of increasing the wearer's chest size by up to TWO FULL cup
sizes.
--The only catch is that the more you drink, the smaller your chest
gets.

CELEBRITY TIPPERS -- SAINTS AND SINNERS!
The dirt on who are big tippers at restaurants -- and who are
cheapskates...
Saints...
Tom Hanks: Tom usually tips 50% of his bill -- AND he makes a point
of chatting up his regular waiters by name.
Matthew McConaughey: "Matthew is a very generous tipper --
as long as you're a cute waitress!" a Hollywood insider told
Star. He likes to flirt, and if you're cute, you'll get way more
than 20%."
Nicole Richie: She's super-friendly and always leaves an excellent
tip.
Tom Cruise: "Tom always carries thousands of dollars in hundred
dollar bills, just to tip!" says an insider. He often throws
down several hundred dollar bills as a generous tip.
Lindsay Lohan: The people who valet her car at her L.A. condo love
Lindsay because she gives them $5 each time and she also makes sure
to give the valet food and sweet treats to keep her in their good
graces.
Patrick Dempsey: He often leaves tips equal to his total bill at
an L.A. diner he usually frequents ... "He wants everyone to
swoon over him!" says a source. "And he's a regular, so
he likes to keep them happy."
Sinners...
Luke Wilson: An insider at an L.A. sushi joint Luke goes to often
says he is a stingy tipper -- when he bothers to leave a tip at
all!
Nicole Kidman: "When Nicole was at a sushi dinner with a movie
executive, she was ice cold to the staff and would not even acknowledge
her waitress!" says a Hollywood insider. "And when she
picked up the tab, she gave a mere 10%."
Eddie Murphy: "When Eddie Murphy goes out to eat," says
a Hollywood insider, "not only doesn't he want to tip, he doesn't
even want to pay for his meal. He feels like he should get everything
for free."
Paris Hilton: Not only is she snooty to those who serve her, but
she's a lousy tipper -- and always has been -- even before her grandfather
announced he's giving 97% of his fortune to charity.
Eva Longoria: Eva goes to an L.A. car wash to get her car cleaned,
and a source says: "She does not tip well -- only gives $2
to the guys that dry her car. Cheap!"
